EVAP President Edmund Araga observes that the electric vehicle industry scene in the Philippines has never been more exciting as EVs are now becoming mainstream.

“We invite EV enthusiasts and the general public to come and see what the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit 2019 has to offer–the future of automotive technology. We are sure that our EV displays and talks from various EV experts will be both educational and enlightening for all involved,” said Araga.

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), the main voice of the electric vehicle industry in the country, is ready for this year's Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS). Themed 'Modernizing the Transport Landscape: Driving Sustainable Growth', the PEVS is slated from July 17 to 18, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall Of Asia Complex in Pasay City.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expects to finish within the year an incentive package for electric vehicle manufacturers, a top official said.

Players in the electric vehicle industry said the Philippines is making significant strides in getting more people to adopt e-vehicles.

Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) President and spokesperson Rommel T. Juan is hopeful that with the recently-enacted Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law exempting electric vehicles from the excise tax--due in part to EV stakeholders' representation with Congress--it would pave the way not only for more affordable EV models but in increased investments in supporting infrastructure which will help sustain the momentum for electric mobility.

Some 126 drivers of electric jeepneys and tricycles in and around Barangay Ayala Alabang attended a hands-on training on driving and maintaining EJeepneys and ETrikes last May 23, 2018. The EV Drivers’ Advance Training was conducted by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines and the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc. to help prepare the barangay and its drivers for the PUV Modernization Program of the government.
